Installation procedure

(Applies to replacement mirror glass only – we suggest order the adhesive made for the glass you need with your order)

For perfect bond, installation procedure should be done in a dry climate and both bonding surfaces need to be clean, dry, and smooth.

Wear gloves and safety goggles.

If possible, it is better to remove mirror backing plate off mirror assembly and work on it off the vehicle.

  • Check the shape, size and fit of the received mirror on the backing plate and make sure appropriate fit has been ordered.
  • If the old glass has only few cracks but still firmly in place, new glass may be simply stock over the old glass. In this case heat function still works and heat will be transferred from old glass to new glass. Clean the surface of old glass with rubbing alcohol.
  • If original glass came with a thick black gasket-like lip folded over or around the glass (specially for old auto-dim glasses) it may help for proper fitment if this gasket is removed or trimmed.
  • If new glass is going to be installed on the plastic backing plate, remove all broken pieces of broken glass using a firm PLASTIC putty knife or similar. It may help to warm up the backing plate slightly with caution not to damage backing plate with excessive heat. If you use a metal putty knife or screw driver, make sure you use a tool that does not have sharp edges or use it gently so the heat grid sitting behind the glass is not damaged.
  • Make sure backing plate is smooth with no glass residuals and clean it with alcohol. If your backing plate is NOT smooth and is grooved, we suggest use silicone or other form of glue. Do NOT use the double sided adhesive as the grooved backing plate does not provide enough surface for adhesive to bond to and mirror glass will fall off.
  • Apply the adhesive or silicon glass glue to the back of the glass first. It may help to warm up the plastic backing plate when installing the new glass so it is flexible and takes the form of the new glass perfectly
  • Align and stick the glass on the backing plate, or on the surface of old glass depending on the procure. Make sure of proper alignment as with instant adhesive you will have only one shot.
  • Clean the surface of the new glass and install the backing plate in reverse procedure if you opted to remove the backing plate and worked on it off the vehicle.
